Court Payment Plans

Payment plans are a legally binding contractual arrangement between you and the Lake County Clerk of Court to assist in the payment of fines, fees, and court costs. Court payment plans are managed through the Courts Management Department, and allow you to make periodic payments related to civil and criminal cases, and traffic citations.

There is a service charge of $25 for establishing a payment plan. Payment plans are also available for court-ordered county probation in felony, misdemeanor, and criminal traffic cases. There is a $3.50 administrative fee for each restitution payment made.

If you fail to make a payment on a payment plan contract, the Lake County Clerk of Court may charge a late fee of $25 or a noticing fee of $7 for each late payment. The Clerk’s Office may also suspend your driver’s license, refuse to issue a reinstatement of your driver’s license, refuse to issue another payment plan, place a judgment lien against you, and turn your account over to a collection agency. All of these sanctions will add to your debt to the Clerk of Court. Accounts turned over to a collection agency are assessed up to an additional 25% collection agency service charge in addition to the balance due to the Clerk.
